After most of its star-studded cast were forced to take paycuts in order to make The Avengers movie a reality (except for Robert Downey Jr., who made something like $50 million when all was said and done), it's looking like things may run a bit differently with the eventual sequel. According to reports in The New York Post [via Movieline], Scarlett Johansson is set to smash records with a $20 million payday for the sequel, which, if true, would top the $19 million Angelina Jolie made for The Tourist, giving Scar-Jo the largest chunk an actress has ever made for a movie.
Can you blame her? The Avengers is now the third highest-grossing movie of all time, which means any sequel has the potential to be another billion-dollar, money-making machine. While almost all of its stars are signed on for multi-picture deals, there may be room in their contracts to renegotiate between movies, which means they could all see significant increases for The Avengers 2. For comparison's sake, Scar-Jo made roughly $4-6 million for The Avengers. Don't we all wish for those kinds of pay-raises?
