The Weekend Rent: Vince Vaughn's Funniest Films

Jan 14, 2011

Vince Vaughn goes for laughs again this weekend in theaters with the release of The Dilemma, co-starring Kevin James and directed by Ron Howard. Vaughn plays a man faced with the titular quandary when he discovers that James—his best friend and partner in an auto-design firm—is being cheated on by his wife (Winona Ryder) just as the guys are preparing a critical presentation.

Whether or not The Dilemma succeeds at becoming the first big comedy of the year, check out Vaughn's previous best bets available for rent that have successful tickled our funny bones over the past 15 years (aside from his role as Norman Bates in the ill-advised Psycho remake, which made us laugh for all the wrong reasons).

Swingers: Vaughn was "so money" and he didn't even know it in this 1996 indie sensation co-starring Jon Favreau about struggling actors living in the east end of Hollywood during the swing revival in the '90s. Vaughn tries to cheer his depressed buddy up by taking him to Vegas and schooling him in the ways of scoring with women and comes across as a lovable, albeit full-of-it, lothario. This is Vaughn's big breakout movie and is available on both DVD and Blu-ray.

Old School: Tap the keg for this hilarious comedy in which Vaughn and pals—including Luke Wilson and Will Ferrell—take over a house near a college campus and revert to their frat-party ways. This unapologetic celebration of male arrested development is available in an unrated version on both DVD and Blu-ray.

DodgeBall: Vaughn plays Peter LaFleur—a small gym owner about to be bought out by the giant Globo-Gym. He enters the gym in a dodgeball tournament to try to raise the money necessary to save his company from being taken over, but Globo-Gym has entered a team into the competition that is guaranteed to sting a few limbs. This hit sports comedy co-starring Ben Stiller and Justin Long is available in an unrated version on both DVD and Blu-ray.

Wedding Crashers: Owen Wilson and Vaughn play Washington D.C. divorce mediators—and unrepentant womanizers—who meet women and get their kicks by crashing weddings. They always become the hit of the party, and this comedy proved to be a hit with audiences by grossing over $285 million worldwide. Like all of Vaughn's funniest films, Wedding Crashers is available in an unrated version on both DVD and Blu-ray.
