We told you yesterday that the brand spanking new Adventures of Tintin trailer would debut today, and it has. At first glance it feels very Spielbergian, with exciting musical cues, big action sequences and the threat of danger around every turn. There's not a whole lot here to go by just yet, and this trailer will probably play a lot better in a movie theater (and in 3D) than it does on your home computer, but even so it's easy to see the advancements in the motion capture technology. Will it knock our socks off come December? Here's hoping it does.
The Adventures of Tintin comes packed with an all-star filmmaking team including Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson and Edgar Wright, and it stars folks like Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Jamie Bell, Cary Elwes and Andy Serkis. In this first installment in a planned trilogy (apparently Jackson is directing the second one), Tintin and his friends discover directions to a sunken ship called the Unicorn and head off in search of buried treasure. This will be the first Steven Spielberg-helmed film to arrive in 3D (and be shot using motion capture), and above all else it will be interesting to see how the iconic director plays with the up-and-coming technology, whether he goes places no one else has gone before, or if it'll land with an emotional thud like previous mo-cap films have before.
Check out the trailer over at Apple and let us know what you think. Is this now one of your most anticipated films of the year?
