Watch: Spike Jonze Turns the Beastie Boys into Action Figures for New Video

Jul 19, 2011

The Beastie Boys have teamed up with Where the Wild Things Are director Spike Jonze for their video, Don't Play That Game That I Can't Win, featuring Santigold, for their latest album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. Everyone was transformed into dolls and action figures for a mini-movie that's like Marwencol, meets James Bond, meets zombies, meets the usual Beastie shenanigans. You can see hands moving figures into position, poles and strings manipulating the dolls, and other low-fi, hand-crafty touches courtesy of long-time collaborator Jonze -- topped off with explosions, guns, and a little gore. The best part of the whole thing is that it features a Yeti. Jonze has been directing video shorts since his 2009 Wild Things movie, and he recently produced the 2010 spectacle otherwise known as Jackass 3D. Yetis are cooler.
