Watch: Richard Linklater's Hilarious Advice for People Who Talk and Text During Movies

Jul 10, 2014

We love the Alamo Drafthouse's policy on talking and texting in its theaters. The Alamo folks don't stand for it, and if someone complains about you chattering and tweeting during a movie, they'll haul you right out with no refund. To keep reminding folks of this rule, the theater continually creates a series of fun videos, many of which feature words of advice from actors, actresses and/or filmmakers with new movies coming out.

With director Richard Linklater's Boyhood arriving in theaters this week, the Texas native became the latest to offer some hilarious words of wisdom to those bothered by talkers and texters inside a movie theater. Check out his video below:

Boyhood is without a doubt one of the year's best films, and definitely a must watch. Not just because its collection of intimate coming-of-age moments, but also for its historical impact. This is a movie we'll never see again. Linklater managed to complete Boyhood just as film was disappearing, and with most movies being shot on digitial these days--not to mention the insane dedication needed from an entire cast and crew--fact is a movie like Boyhood is a once-in-a-lifetime sort of thing.

So see it. Feel it. Remember it.

Here are a few words about Boyhood from our write-up following its Sundance Film Festival premiere:

"Arguably one of the most ambitious films you'll ever see, Richard Linklater's Boyhood tracks the life of one family over the course of 12 years, with the Dazed and Confused filmmaker choosing to actually shoot the movie over a 12-year span. What we're left with is this incredibly immersive tone poem about growing up and moving on, and the moments that define us at all the stages of our lives. Linklater moves seamlessly from year to year, moment to moment, using only the slight changes in appearance and culture to cue us on how much time has passed since the last scene, and by the end you'll feel like this massive time capsule was just injected into your soul."
