Once hailed by Sports Illustrated as “the most hated man in pro football,” super-agent Drew Rosenhaus is not only the biggest name in the game when it comes to representing the NFL’s elite athletes, but he was also the inspiration for Tom Cruise’s Jerry Maguire character in the film of the same name.
60 Minutes recently spent time following Rosenhaus around, and the segment (which aired last night) is a fascinating look into a world few of us ever see – what goes on behind closed doors in America’s most popular professional sport. Rosenhaus is brash, bold, egotistical, and loud (and not to mention a menace on the road, who wields two cellphones for talking, texting, and surfing the web – all while driving), but if you loved Cruise’s performance and wondered what inspired it, it becomes very clear from the moment correspondent Scott Pelley sits down with the agent.
Don’t take our word for it, though – check out the clip below to see Rosenhaus in action. After watching it, we think you’ll agree that Tom Cruise pretty much nailed it in Jerry Maguire
