If you're an American, chances are you'll look at the below video and think it's just a cute remake of John Carpenter's The Thing (not 2011's misfire remake) using claymation penguins. However, Europeans will instantly recognize Pingu, the cute star of the titular claymation kids show that ran for a over a decade starting in 1986. So no, this isn't just penguins acting out one of the best horror movies ever made, this is a faithful recreation of a lovely kids show remaking one of the best horror movies ever made. And it was all born out of the twisted mind of animator Lee Hardcastle.
If that name, or the violence in the video, seems familiar it's likely because Hardcastle recently won The ABCs of Death competition to become the ambitious horror anthology's 26th director. If that doesn't ring any bells, maybe you'll recognize him from any number of his other animated tributes to films like Shaun of the Dead, The Exorcist and even The Life Aquatic, which we've conveniently gathered for you below.
Be warned, several of these are NSFW for various language and claymation-should-never-do-such-horrible-things reasons.
