Fiona Apple's ex-boyfriend, who happens to be director Paul Thomas Anderson, reunited with the singer for a simple but effectively rousing video for the Idler Wheel track "Hot Knife." We'd rather catch a glimpse of Anderson's adaptation of Thomas Pynchon's Inherent Vice, currently in production, but Fiona is a great distraction in the meantime.
There are definitely echoes of The Master here in terms of shot setups and the clip's cool tones, making it moody, but still vibrant. "He makes my heart a cinemascope screen," Fiona belts out — reminding us that Anderson was probably the perfect guy for the job of music video director. [Spotted via The Film Stage]
