Suspiria

What, exactly, is going on at a dance company in Europe that is causing everyone to become unhinged? In Suspiria, nothing is what it seems to be, which makes it even more intriguing than it appears.

Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades Freed) and Tilda Swinton star in what looks like a very trippy and disturbing thriller. Catch up with all we know about Suspiria and then watch the disturbing and unsettling new trailer below.

Who else stars?

Mia Goth, Lutz Ebersdorf, Jessica Harper and Chloë Grace Moretz.

What's it about?

The official synopsis gets right to the point: "A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe's artistic director (Swinton), an ambitious young dancer (Johnson), and a grieving psychotherapist (Ebersdorf). Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up."

Who is the director?

Luca Guadagnino. He's known most recently for directing the Academy Award-nominated romantic drama Call Me By Your Name. He's often worked with Swinton, so her role should be especially memorable. Johnson and Swinton also appeared together recently in the director's well-received A Bigger Splash.

Is this a remake?

Yes. David Kajganich wrote the script for this new version, which draws inspiration from the original, directed by the bold Italian filmmaker Dario Argento in 1977. Jessica Harper, who also appears in the new film, starred in the original as a young American dancer; Joan Bennett costarred as the head of the dance company.

When can we see it?

Amazon Studios will release Suspiria in New York and Los Angeles theaters on October 26; it expands nationwide on November 2, 2018.

Watch the new trailer (and the first teaser) below.

The new trailer is extremely suggestive and profoundly disturbing.
