Guardians of the Galaxy

THR has always been good at putting out interesting video featurettes with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, and this batch of candid interviews in its Rule Breakers series continues that trend.

The videos are basically short vignettes with actors, directors and filmmakers talking about the rules they follow – and those they break – but it also spirals off into other stories and anecdotes that are sure to interest anyone who loves the movies.

There’s a whole series of these videos, which will make a good way to kill some hours while you’re sitting at your in-laws’ house over the holiday break, but we’ve selected several that we found particularly interesting or informative.

In the first, we catch up with divisive filmmaker Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes cohorts as they reminisce about starting the production company. Bay comes across pretty well in the clip, even though he tells us the 15-year-old version of himself was sure Raiders of the Lost Ark was going to suck.

After that, we catch up with directors Edgar Wright and Judd Apatow as they discuss sequels, the Taxi Driver rule, and what they last looked up on Google. Apatow and Wright have great chemistry – maybe they’ll collaborate on something one of these days.

Finally, we close things out with James Gunn and Chris Pratt ruminating on the making of Guardians of the Galaxy. This is a really fun chat with two guys who clearly love each other – and a glimpse into how it must have been hanging out on the set while shooting was underway.

If that has you hankering for more, check out this YouTube playlist featuring all of the Rule Breaker videos.
