Did you know perfume commercials have director’s cuts? We didn’t either, but in the case of Martin Scorsese — who created this two-minute ad for Dolce & Gabbana — you can have whatever you damn well please. The Wolf of Wall Street filmmaker found time somewhere in his ridiculous schedule (I hope we’re all equally busy and fulfilled at 70 years old) to capture Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey for the Italian luxury brand.
Of course the actors look incredible, but Scorsese’s cinematography and affection for vintage New York makes the short feel expansive, beyond its advertorial scope. Set to Mina’s “Il cielo in una stanza,” enjoy this short tale of love and longing from one of cinema’s finest. [Spotted via The Playlist]
