Watch the Internet Recreate 'Jaws' on the Anniversary of its Release

Jun 20, 2012

Today is special for two reasons: 1. It's the first day of summer, and 2. On this day in 1975, Steven Spielberg's Jaws was released in theaters, forever altering the summer movie landscape. In honor of the anniversary of its release, Universal is putting out a sweet blu-ray of the film on August 14th that features an all-new, digitally remastered and fully restored picture in addition to 7.1 surround sound. If you're any kind of Spielberg junkie and/or someone who grew up devouring this film multiple times each year (raises hand), then this is what you're saving your camp counselor money for.

To commemorate this day, we were sent two new clips from the restored blu-ray to share with you all, so let's start there. Check them out below, and we'll meet up again when you're done.

Looks nice, right? Since we still have time before the blu-ray hits shelves -- and since we're all about celebrating movies, as well as celebrating the ways in which we celebrate movies, we thought it'd be fun to do another one of our fan roundups of your homemade Jaws-inspired videos.

Yes, the internet is full of these sorts of things, so we've combed through and located our five favorite homemade Jaws videos for you to chuckle through below.
