If you've seen an action film in the past 10 years, chances are it starred Tom Cruise. The romantic heartthrob turned blockbuster star transformed his career with a number of knuckle-gripping action flicks — many of which he performed his own stunts for. Just look at the Mission: Impossible series. Remember when Cruise scaled the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the tallest building in the world, for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol? We're still feeling queasy after watching it.
Cruise had to take a back seat for a few of the stunts in the sci-fi actioner Edge of Tomorrow, which opens in theaters tomorrow. His costar Emily Blunt matched Cruise’s enthusiasm for acting on the edge when she drove a car at breakneck speed. As the actress relates in this Conan clip, the first take of the driving stunt went off without a hitch. The second take, however, almost killed Blunt and her famous costar when she didn't hit the brakes in time. It all ended well, though. "He was actually laughing," said Blunt. "And I told him, I said, 'I thought you were being so annoying when you told me to say brake, and I apologize.'"
That will probably be the last time these two get in a car together.
