If you’ve been cruising around the Internet for any length of time, then you’ve probably at least heard of the Slender Man. This mythical creature who preys on innocent victims has become an Internet phenomenon since first taking the online world by storm back in 2009. He certainly is creepy – with his long, thin body, faceless head, and ability to extend his arms and tentacles to impossible lengths. Knowing all that, it was probably only a matter of time before he headlined his own film.
A collective known as the Super Movie Bros took to Kickstarter last year to fund their very own feature-length film based on the creature Victor Surge created as part of a Something Awful Photoshop contest. They achieved their modest $10,000 goal and have released the finished film, titled The Slender Man, into the wilds of the Web, where you can now watch it for free.
We haven’t had a chance to watch the full movie yet, but director A.J. Meadows has made a feature documentary about Sundance, and some music videos – so this wasn’t just a case of a random wannabe filmmaker starting a Kickstarter in hopes of launching his career on the back of an Internet urban legend.
If you have some time to kill – or just love the creepy legend of the Slender Man – then check out the full film below.
