Bohemian Rhapsody

In Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek portrays Freddie Mercury, who became the charismatic lead singer of the fledgling rock band Queen and led them to stardom. Their hits included "We Will Rock You," "We Are the Champions" and "Another One Bites the Dust." It was a journey not without its troubles, perhaps most notably due to Mercury's own private life and public tribulations.

Advance word on the film has been very positive. It will open in theaters everywhere on Friday, November 2. Here's everything we know about Bohemian Rhapsody, including trailers and clips, which you can watch below.

What's the story?

Bohemian Rhapsody "is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury," according to the official synopsis. "Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound.

"They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid.

"While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day."

Lucy Boynton plays his longtime friend Mary Austin. The other members of Queen are portrayed by Gwilym Lee (as Brian May), Ben Hardy (as Roger Taylor) and Joseph Mazzello (as John Deacon). Aidan Gillen, Tom Hollander, Allen Leech and Mike Myers also star.

Who directed?

Bryan Singer. He is best known, of course, for directing X-Men: Apocalypse and other blockbuster action movies, but he's also helmed thrillers such as The Usual Suspects and Valkyrie, as well as producing a variety of television shows.
