Watch Emma Stone and Jon Hamm Audition for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Saturday Night Live

On the most recent episode of Saturday Night Live, director J.J. Abrams appeared in a filmed segment to introduce screen tests for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. What follows is a hilarious montage of scenes featuring SNL cast members doing spot-on imitations of a variety of actors, sometimes alongside the real-life stars of the movie, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.

Check it out below.

We especially liked Bobby Moynihan as George Lucas, who makes multiple attempts to use "the Force" to get what he wants, and the way that Leslie Jones concludes the segment, as well as the off-screen directions given by Abrams. And we absolutely loved the appearance of two special guest stars. Emma Stone, who surely knows a thing or two about casting in giant franchises from her experience with the Spider-Man films …

… and Jon Hamm, who suggests a riff on a well-known Star Wars character.

Although neither Stone nor Hamm was ever rumored to be joining the cast before the first offical announcement was made last year, there were several actors who acknowledged that they auditioned for or met with Abrams about potential roles -- including Michael B. Jordan, Saoirse Ronan, and Jesse Plemons -- and many more who were rumored to be under consideration.

We'll all be able to see the final cast for ourselves when Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives in theaters on December 18.
