We've got a video from a few years ago that features
Trainspotting director
Danny Boyle and
Darren Aronofsky chatting about their movies and filmmaking styles. Boyle's
Slumdog Millionaire was in theaters at the time, and Aronofsky -- who debuted
The Wrestler during that same season -- asks the filmmaker about "surrendering" to India. Both directors relate to working on projects that required a lot of control, and then allowing themselves freedom in the films that followed. We learn a little about the origins of
The Fountain and are reminded that
The Wrestler was a looser production for Aronofsky — who didn't even want director's chairs on set, or video playback.
This was a really cool piece of marketing for two of the Fox Searchlight movies campaigning for awards that year, and it's something we wish we could see more of. There are seven parts in total in this interview, and you can view them all below.
