Those of us who were lucky enough to attend last year’s Fantastic Fest (I was not one of them…) came back buzzing about a lot of different films – but one of the most intriguing titles of all was a short entitled Cost of Living.
This rougly eight-minute-long horror film follows two security officers (Brandon Routh and Reaper’s Bret Harrison) as their average workday goes horribly wrong. How does it go wrong? They work for some kind of top secret company bio-engineering werewolves and zombies and the subjects break out during lunch break. It's up to this odd couple to stop them.
What ensues is a splattery and hilarious short film, beautifully shot by Morgan Susser and directed with style by Bendavid Grabinski. In a perfect world, we’d get more fun monster movies like this and a lot less unnecessary dreck like Transformers 4…
Check out Cost of Living below (listen closely for a surprise cameo from Scott Pilgrim’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and a teaser behind-the-scenes clip, then let us know what you think. We think Grabinski may have a future in the movie business. [via /Film]
