As the calendar prepares to roll over to 2013, it’s easy to get a bit nostalgic and think back to the good old days. Nostalgia’s a tricky thing – it has a tendency to make the past look better than it really was. That being said, some of the past genuinely was better – and we’ve got video evidence to prove it.
Check out this cool 1982 summer movie preview, which heralds back to a time when the biggest box office season wasn’t filled with superhero movies and you could actually release horror films when the thermometer was hovering in the high 80s.
This entertainment news clip highlights just how magical that summer was – the big releases included huge box office hits like E.T. and Poltergeist as well as future cult classics such as Blade Runner¸The Thing and Tron. Yep, the summer of ’82 was pretty damn magical looking back at it.
Of course, not everything was better back then – I mean, look at the news anchor’s hairdo.
