The closing night film of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival did not screen for the press prior to its debut later this week, and whether that says something about how good (or bad) it is, we'll have to wait and see. What we do have, though, is a clip from said movie, starring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs in the first big-screen biopic about the Apple founder, due in theaters this spring. Those of us wondering whether Kutcher will do anything differently in his technique while attempting to bring Jobs back to life will find that aside from a beard, it's pretty much Ashton Kutcher sounding like Ashton Kutcher.
In fact, we're more impressed with Josh Gad's disheveled portrayal of Steve Wozniak in this clip than Kutcher's Jobs, but regardless of who does the better impersonation, it'll be interesting to see whether the movie can take the story of Apple and make it cinematic. Will we be able to invest in these characters and their story, or will the whole Kutcher thing throw us off? jOBS hits theaters on April 19 to coincide with Apple's 37th anniversary, but expect the first reviews to hit once it screens at Sundance this week.
