Watch Arnold Schwarzenegger Explain How He Got In Shape for 'Terminator Genisys'

Nov 10, 2015

Terminator Genisys may just be one of the most fascinating franchise movies ever made. It's a sequel that's also a prequel, and then a sidequel, but also a near-total reboot with its cast, despite using all of the same characters we first met 25+ years ago. It takes place in the future, past, and near-present, with a story that spans decades but, perspective-wise, unfolds over a few days.

Now of course people can argue until the time-traveling cows come home about how well all of those different ingredients work together, but it's easy to agree on one thing: There's never really been anything quite like it before.

Aside from the narrative complexity of weaving together a unifed story across all of these alternate timelines, Terminator Genisys also has another big, but necessary obstacle: Arnold Schwazrenegger has gotten old. The movie finds a way for the actor's age to make sense in the context of the story, but that doesn't change the fact that real-world Schwarzenegger is now 67 years old.

So how does one pull off playing a hardcore killing machine that shouldn't age? The answer is pretty simple: Try not to go soft in the first place. That's what Schwarzenegger explains in this exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from the Terminator Genisys Blu-ray, which hits Best Buy store shelves this week.

Check it out.
