Captain America: The First Avenger is due out on DVD and Blu-ray next week, but the folks at Marvel have been kind enough to give everyone a sneak peek at one of the disc’s coolest extras with the release of the second Marvel One-Shot short film, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer.
The second short film designed to bridge the gap between the various Marvel origins films and Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, A Funny Thing… once again finds us hanging out with S.H.I.E.L.D. special agent Phil Coulson. In this outing, which takes place during Iron Man 2, Coulson’s on his way to the location where Thor’s hammer has fallen. He stops for some snacks along the way, and gets to be a hero while choosing between chocolate and powdered donuts.
All in all, this second short is a lot more fun than the first – which found Coulson and another S.H.I.E.L.D. agent discussing strategy to get The Hulk to join The Avengers. Actor Clark Gregg not only gets to kick some butt this time around, but he even gets to deliver some funny lines in the process. Careful, Marvel, or you’re gonna have to make a full-length origin story movie for this character too.
Check out the clip below, and be sure to grab a copy of Captain America: The First Avenger when it hits retail next week.
