Warner Bros. is taking an interesting approach to their first "trailers" for The Campaign, directed by Austin Powers' Jay Roach. Instead of releasing a traditional trailer for the film, which stars Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as rival idiot politicians campaigning for the same seat in Congress, they've released both politician's campaign ads and are asking for viewers to vote for them on Facebook.
First up is Ferrell's Cam Brady, which seems like a cross between his own George W. Busch impersonation and Ron Burgundy:
And the fictional manchild he's running against is Galifianakis' Marty Huggins, who looks and acts like he could be a brother of Galifianakis' character from Dinner for Schmucks:
Now, if you're weary of spending a feature film with just those two buffoons, you can at least take some solace in knowing that both candidate's family and political teams will be filled out with the likes of Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott, Brian Cox, John Lithgow and Dan Aykroyd. Hopefully a roster that strong can overcome the politicians themselves, if their schtick does indeed grow thin.
If you're looking to play into the studio's facebook voting game, check out the respective pages for Cam Brady and Marty Huggins. Or if you just want to sit back and see what happens, the actual film hits on August 10th.
