Watch: 'Star Wars' Meets 'Brokeback Mountain' in 'Love Wars'

Watch: 'Star Wars' Meets 'Brokeback Mountain' in 'Love Wars'

Jan 11, 2012

We're used to seeing plenty of fan-made Star Wars films hit the net, but not many of those deal with themes of homosexuality. Enter Vincente Bonet Martinez and his short film Love Wars, which centers on two stormtroopers (also lovers) who want desperately to run away together and leave the Death Star forever, except, well, it's the Death Star and there's a lot of fighting going on. Things we learn about stormtroopers in this short include the fact that they also speak Spanish, and that two clones can fall in love with one another. Who knew! We're loving the complex internal struggle going on here coupled with the external struggle happening outside as fun, cheesy low-budget effects show us ships (including the Millennium Falcon) battling one another in space in the background.

Check it out below and let us know what you think. Can stormtroopers fall in love with other stormtroopers? Should we ask George Lucas if that's kosher, or what?
