If you love Jurassic Park and zombie films, we suspect you’re going to like this news about an upcoming horror flick.
The first artwork for the low-budget indie feature Zombie Safari is now online, and it wears its cinematic inspiration on its sleeve. Clearly, producer Mark Burman and Red Sea Media drew some inspiration from Spielberg’s classic tale of a dino park gone horribly wrong.
The film will riff on Jurassic Park, telling the story of a world where the zombie apocalypse was thwarted and life has gone back to normal for most folks. However, a billionaire traumatized by the death of his family opens his very own zombie-safari theme park where humanity can see the terrifying creatures up close and personal, but without worrying about being the centerpiece in a zombie buffet. Well, at least until the power goes out and the walking dead break free to eat again.
The idea sounds pretty cool – although, we won't lie: we were really hoping for zombie dinosaurs when we first heard the pitch (note to self: start writing zombie dinosaur screenplay as soon as I finish this post.)
Zombie Safari is still in the very early stages of development – they haven’t even hired a director yet, let alone started casting – but as a high-concept, low-budget idea, we're all on board with this one.
