When some directors have a significant commercial hit, they attach their name to everything (here's looking at you, Timur Bekmambetov). Not Andy and Lana Wachowski. Despite the mammoth success of their Matrix trilogy, the pair have had a relatively lowkey last decade of directorial work. On the producing front they've had fun with V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin and, most recently, Cloud Atlas (which they also directed some segments for), but as far as their respective director's hats go, they've been hanging on the wall since 2008's Speed Racer. They're about to don them again, though.
It's a cryptic project at this point, and up until today we really only knew three things about it:
-- It's an original script.
-- It's a sci-fi action film.
-- It's called Jupiter Ascending.
And, that's really about it. Unfortunately, today doesn't bring any grand revelations about the project, either, except we can now picture two pretty faces in phantom roles doing phantom things. Warner Bros. has reportedly put out offers to Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis to star in the film. Production is expected to start later this year, so the wait for more info shouldn't be too much longer. In the mean time, feel free to wildly speculate as to what Jupiter Ascending is actually about.
