Vin Diesel Will Star in the 'Fast and Furious' Live Stunt Show

Aug 14, 2017

Vin Diesel took to Facebook last week to check in with fans and share what he's been doing lately: filming a new Fast and Furious stunt. No, production hasn't begun yet on the ninth movie. He's working on a bit for next year's touring stunt show.

As we learned back in February, the Fast and Furious franchise has inspired a live attraction. Usually something like this would be set up at the Universal Studios theme parks. But this will be making its way straight to the fans around the globe.

"I think it's going to first be shown in the O2 Arena in London, then it's going to go all over the world," Diesel says in his social media video posting, while wearing his Dominic Toretto shirt, from a New York City studio. "We're really excited about it. It'll be a way for you to see the action firsthand. It's the first time it's ever been done. ... You know we gravitate toward the first time things have been done. We like being the innovators."

Watch it below.

Live stunt shows are nothing new, and neither are touring events. Not only have there been stunt showcases on the Universal backlot for more than half a century (they've even been giving tours there since 1915), but recently Marvel took its own action-packed show on the road. Still, it's very likely that the Fast and Furious stunt spectacular will indeed be "state of the art," unlike anything we've seen before, beyond the re-creation of stunt sequences from the movies.

"As you know, my work with Fast and Furious never ends," Diesel says in the video. But will the actor actually be involved in the live component of the show? Probably not, as he's a very busy guy. Whatever he's filming, though, will give fans the chance to truly associate the thing with the genuine article. This isn't just another touring attraction with car stunts. Diesel will presumably introduce the whole thing and perform a controlled segment on monitors before the show commences.

The tour is expected to begin in January 2018.
