It’s been a busy week for Vin Diesel – the action star has taken to the Internet to not only reveal plans for two new sequels to franchises he’s worked on previously, but he also gifted us all with this awesome/creepy video of him lip syncing a Katy Perry song. Thanks for making a slow week better, Mr. Diesel.
First up, Diesel took to his Facebook page to thank fans for their support of Riddick – which opened up in the top spot on the DVD charts recently. I’ll give Diesel credit for being a pretty cool guy when it comes to appreciating his fan base – the actor clearly understands the fans were an integral part in getting the third film made after the less-than-stellar performance of The Chronicles of Riddick. Based on the performance of the third film, the actor reports that Universal is interested in backing another one. Here’s what the actor had to say:
"Guys, I'm just excited and happy. I'm shouting out to you guys to say thank you. Universal just called me and told me that Riddick is No. 1 on the DVD charts. There's no way in the world Riddick would have been made without you guys, you know that, and you guys have been a part of our page since 2012 and remember how arduous a road it was to get the movie made, and rated ‘R’, and do it with such a low budget. It’s a win for all of us and I really, really thank you so much. Yeah, I’m excited, and of course, Universal says they want to develop the next one.”
Wanting to develop it and it actually getting made are two very different things – but at least there’s hope for another Riddick movie for the fans. Diesel then danced around to Katy Perry songs in what I can only conclude was a way to show his joy or perhaps his way of secretly revealing that he's up for the role of Buffalo Bill in a Silence of the Lambs remake...
That wasn’t all Diesel had on tap, though. Fans wondering when they might see the return of his secret agent Xander Cage should be pleased by yesterday’s update.
Diesel returned to Facebook to do more lip-synching and announce that the new script for the third XXX movie will be in his hands shortly.
Um, anyone but Katy Perry? How about Betty White? The Internet still loves her, right?
Kidding aside, how interested are you in a new XXX or Riddick movie? Weigh in below.
