Video: Evangeline Lilly Warms Up to 'The Hobbit' Geeks With a Little Elvish

Oct 04, 2011

Evangeline Lilly will be playing a Woodland Elf in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit, which hits theaters on December 14, 2012 (part 2 arrives a year later). She took time out of her busy schedule to practice her Elvish for Access Hollywood during the premiere of Real Steel. Aside from the annoying prerequisite statement from the interviewer claiming geek cred, the Lost star shares a few candid thoughts about her role, which finds the actress playing Tauriel (a character invented by Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens) — an elf from Mirkwood.
Hopefully geeks find her endearing enough — somehow we don't think that's going to be a problem, particularly after her Elvish recital — because she claims to be "scared" by "all the ones at Comic Con" and just wants to deliver a great performance. Lilly mentions working closely with a dialect coach, motion coach, language coach, and stunt coach in New Zealand and compliments Jackson's resourceful and supportive working environment. The Hurt Locker actress also talks about the film's script being under lock and key and more. Check out the interview in full below.
