Update: Jalopnik are reporting that this will be a Honda commercial that re-enacts many of the famous Ferris Bueller's Day Off scenes using Honda vehicles (it'll be a Honda CR-V that soars over pavement instead of a Ferrari, for one). Not only that, but The Hangover helmer Todd Phillips is said to be the director behind the spot.
Just when you think it's safe to say that an actor or actress will never reprise one of their most iconic roles decades later, along comes a Super Bowl commercial to change their mind. Last year's Super Bowl found Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the Vacation movies in a Super Bowl spot for HomeAway vacation rentals. Now this year it's apparently Matthew Broderick's turn to reprise his beloved Ferris Bueller character in a commercial for ... we don't know.
Right now there's just a teaser online that shows Broderick (as Bueller) opening his curtains and saying, "How am I supposed to handle work on a day like today." Then it cuts to the song "Oh Yeah" with the date 2.5.12. No word on what this is for, though the description gives us this: "We hate to be such a tease, but on a day like today, we just have to. Stick it out until the Super Bowl, or take a "day off" on Monday and catch the big reveal."
