Universal Unveils One of the Best DVD/Blu-ray Box Sets of the Year

Aug 17, 2012

Universal 100th anniversary box set

Universal really loves their big anniversary box-set collections – and as film geeks, we love them for releasing them. Earlier this year, the studio announced plans to release a massive box set of discs featuring their classic monster movies. Now they’ve one-upped themselves by revealing the Universal 100th Anniversary Collection Limited Edition. Open up your wallets, movie lovers – you’re gonna want this set.

The mammoth collection features 25 classic films (on your choice of Blu-ray or DVD), spanning from the 1930s to the present. Classic titles like Jaws, Dracula and Back to the Future are featured alongside some more interesting choices from the this century (The Fast and the Furious and Mamma Mia? Really?)

Aside from the films, the Anniversary Collection also comes chock full of extras. Bonus materials include a 100 Years of Universal collector’s book, a 15-track music CD featuring songs from some of the films, and more features than we can list here.

Both packages are set to land at retail on November 6 – just in time for the holidays. No word yet on the retail price, but we expect a box set this large won’t come cheap. Considering everything you’re getting, though, it’s sorta worth it.

Check out the full press release below and start drooling over all those extras.
