Tom Holland Is Fancasting Chris Pratt In HIs Own 'Uncharted'

Uncharted the video game is about the treasure-hunting adventures of Nathan Drake, a man in his 30s, and Sully, his grey-haired mentor. Uncharted the movie, however, is going to be about a much younger Nathan Drake, who we recently learned will be played by Tom Holland. And apparently the switch was Holland's idea.

Movie studios love to cultivate ongoing relationships with their big stars. Holland is anchoring Spider-Man: Homecoming for Sony, who owns Uncharted. Naturally studio head Tom Rothman asked Holland about what else they could work on. That's when Holland, who would have been a young teen when the first Uncharted came out, pitched them the young Nathan Drake idea that director Shawn Levy (Real Steel) is now moving forward with.

That's not the only idea about the movie Holland has, either. In the games Sully is a much older character, but since Drake will be younger in the movies, it makes sense that Sully be cast younger as well. With that in mind, Holland's already pitching that Chris Pratt take on the roll, telling Yahoo Movies:

“I think Jake Gyllenhaal could be really cool, but I actually went to the Jurassic World film set the other day to visit my friend who is directing it and Chris Pratt is on that film, who I have become very good friends with over the last few months, and I think he would be a great Sully. I think it could be cool, because if it was an older movie I would say that Chris should play Nathan, but I think he would be a good Sully and I love working with Chris.”

Those "last few months" Holland are referring to were for Avengers: Infinity War. Don't take that necessarily as confirmation that Spider-Man and Star-Lord are going to meet up in the movie, but actors on productions like that have a ton of downtime. Maybe the two of them spent it playing video games.

Whatever the case, since we now know that Holland's got some sway over Sony considering Uncharted was idea, the question becomes whether that sway is strong enough to get the studio to pony up for Pratt. Or, perhaps a better question to ask is, would Pratt even want to play the non-lead in a franchise? We hope he'd be game for it. The relationship between Drake and Sully is a fantastic one, filled with lots of back-and-forth busting of chops; something Holland and Pratt could do quite well together.
