Two Horror Films Come Home in February

Dec 13, 2010

Never break the chain if you want to live—that is the lesson learned in the horror film Chain Letter starring The Twilight Saga's Nikki Reed the Saw series' Betsy Russell. If you got scared by movies like Final Destination and The Grudge, you will want to check out this latest spin on the idea that Death is always watching and waiting to strike.

Chain Letter is getting mailed home on February 1 on both DVD and Blu-ray, although both appear to be barebones offerings with the only supplement seeming to be a trailer.

While we are all waiting for that other Wes Craven film titled Scream 4 to hit theaters in April, the horror maven's most recent film, My Soul to Take, will try to scare up more interest on DVD and Blu-ray on February 8 than it did on the big screen.

The story is about the day the Riverton Ripper vanished without a trace and seven children were born. Now those children are all turning 16 and turning up dead because of a dark secret.

Although My Soul to Take was released in theaters in 3D, don't hold your breath and hope for Universal to gamble on a concurrent Blu-ray 3D release since the movie made less than $15 million domestically. If there is a Blu-ray 3D release, then either Craven or the studio must have their own deal with the devil.
