Movies Chat: If Not a 'Twilight' Reboot, Then How Should They Continue the Franchise?

Movies Chat: If Not a 'Twilight' Reboot, Then How Should They Continue the Franchise?

Jun 18, 2012

Movies Chat is our new work-in-progress chat show hosted by Managing Editor Erik Davis. Each month we'll release multiple episodes that feature 15-20 minute conversations with some of the web's most notable movie experts.

New images arrived last week and a new teaser trailer arrives this week -- all of it reminding us that The Twilight Saga is ending its five-movie run on the big screen with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, out November 16th. But is it really ending? Rumors this week suggest Lionsgate is currently assessing the situation, considering all options, from a straight franchise reboot to a sequel to a television show and more. Does the future of the franchise hinge on which stories Stephenie Meyer wants to tell, and will her other upcoming film The Host play a role in how soon we see Twilight again?

On today's episode of Movies Chat I rang up Laura Byrne-Cristiano, co-founder of The Twilight Lexicon, the oldest continuously operated Twilight fansite, and author of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Countdown column right here at We chat up the future of the Twilight franchise and get an expert's thoughts on the franchise finale.
