Try Not to Die from Dysentery in This 8-Bit Version of 'A Million Ways to Die in the West'

Million Ways to Die in the West game

Seth McFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West opens nationwide at the end of the month, but you can start getting ready for the Family Guy creator’s latest live-action comedy by checking out an 8-bit retro game inspired by the film.

Universal and Adult Swim have crafted Trail to Old Stump, a game that finds players traversing the harsh American landscape in their horse and buggy while dodging all sorts of challenges.

If this sounds a lot like the old Oregon Trail game, that’s because it is – only with the lowbrow humor McFarlane fans have come to know and love. You can still die from dysentery, have your cart break down, spend your money on food, and so on. The only real difference is the McFarlane–styled comedy.

One other thing that is different is that you can play with up to five of your friends through Facebook. (Oh, good – another Facebook game wherein all my friends can spam me endlessly with requests to play. I can see what I’ll be adding to my blocked list later today.)

You can check out Trail to Old Stump for yourself on the Adult Swim page. Watch out for that dysentery – it’s not a good way to go.
