Gather the Kids for New 'Trolls' and 'The Secret Life of Pets' Trailers

Jan 28, 2016

These days most animated films are sophisticated enough to be enjoyed as much by adults as they are kids. The little ones can go see Frozen and come away with magic and music branded onto their brains, while adults can appreciate it as not just a great musical, but a clever twist on classic Disney princess stories. A four-year-old may want to see The Good Dinosaur for its adorable dino, while a forty-year-old may be more drawn to its stunning animation. Striking that all ages balance isn't easy, but it's certainly worth it.

All that said, the first teaser trailer for Trolls has us suspecting this may be one strictly for the kiddos (and those who like twerking animated creatures).

Coming from a number of minds that collectively gave us Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek Forever After and, surprisingly, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, Trolls stars those tiny, colorful dolls that were super popular in the '80s and '90s. We couldn't tell you what it's actually about, though, because this teaser just has trolls doing the Whip and the Nae Nae and dancing to Jock Jams. We assume there is a bigger plot at play, but for now this is how Trolls is being introduced to the world.

On the other end of the animated movie spectrum we have The Secret Life of Pets, which just released a new trailer that's definitely going to entertain kids and adults. It shows us more of that movie's big, fun adventure and looks like it's guaranteed to make anyone who has ever even interacted with an animal smile.

Check it out.

Trolls hits theaters on November 4, 2016. The Secret Life of Pets hits theaters a few months earlier on July 8, 2016.
