Toy Story and Toy Story 2 Get Upgraded Next Year

Dec 04, 2009

Pixar and Disney hit box-office gold and changed the rules of animation forever with 1995’s Toy Story and its equally lauded sequel, 1999’s Toy Story 2. If video killed the radio star, these two movies featuring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Annie Potts and many more pretty much finished off 2D animation.

Toy Story 3, which will also be in 3D, is slated to arrive in theaters this June. Before that Disney will release the first two movies on Blu-ray with special new bonus features. How do we know this if Disney has yet to issue a press release statement? Put any BD-Live Disney BD into your player (Blu-ray Bob used Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) and check out the “On Blu-ray” section after you connect to BD-Live. You’ll see an icon for Toy Story, which you can click on and view a video announcing the arrival of both movies on Blu-ray. Although details about the new bonus features are not given, each movie will contain a sneak peek at Toy Story 3, which means that both movies will be released before Buzz and Woody are back on the big screen in June. Intrepid BD explorers will want to dig through the BD-Live features and discover what other surprise announcements Disney's hidden.
