One doesn't normally associate Tom Hanks with a dystopian universe, but the actor has teamed up with Yahoo for an animated, multimedia project called Electric City, which features just that. Hanks also stars in the dark online series, co-starring Jeanne Tripplehorn, Holland Taylor, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Antoon, Chris Parnell, and Paul Scheer. A trailer for Electric City has arrived and inspires thoughts of sci-fi doom and gloom (watch it below).
"The world as we know it has ended and out of the rubble, the Electric City stands as a symbol of peace and security. Yet under the veneer of order lies a world full of secrets and violence. Secret police, back-alley dealings, daring chases, and murder all find a home in the 'Electric City.'" The series promises "short-form connecting storylines" and a "compelling score" for an immersive and interactive experience. The first ten episodes (each 5-7 minutes long) will premiere on Yahoo starting July 17. You can also explore a 3D map of Electric City, behind the scenes footage, games, and more goodies.
