Look up in the sky – it’s a bird, it’s a plane… oh, wait, it’s just me with your latest superhero movie news. That’s kind of exciting, right?

We kick things off today with some Avengers news, courtesy of the king of Marvel scoops, El Mayimbe. The Latino Review newshound reports that Paul Bettany has signed on to play Vision in the upcoming sequel, putting the rumors of Vin Diesel landing the role to bed once and for all.

What’s more interesting is his reveal that the last piece of major casting for Avengers: The Age of Ultron is for the part of Ms. Marvel. Katee Sackhoff has been rumored for the part, but no official decision has been made yet. I kinda like the idea of Sackoff playing this role, but maybe Marvel has some other ace up its sleeve.

Zack Snyder reveals Batman vs. Superman influence

No superhero-movie news update is complete without some new bit of info about DC's highly anticipated Batman vs. Superman. We’re more than two years out from this movie hitting theaters, but the hype machine has already shifted into high gear. Can the studio sustain this level of interest for another 700-plus days?

Today’s news involves director Snyder elaborating on what he thinks Ben Affleck will bring to the film. He offered up the following in a recent interview with a French magazine:

Ben brings an interesting counterweight to the performance of Henry in the role of Superman. He has the experience necessary to paint the picture of an older and more advised man than Clark Kent, who bears the scars of a seasoned vigilante while retaining the charm that Bruce Wayne deploys when present in the world."

So, basically, all that “older, world-weary Batman” stuff we’ve been hearing was spot-on. Does any of this sell you on Affleck as Batman, or are you still unhappy with this casting? [via Coming Soon]
