Tomas Alfredson – who brought us the touching, but terrifying coming-of-age Swedish vamp tale, Let the Right One In – returns to the big screen with an adaptation of John le Carré's bestselling novel, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The Cold War thriller follows the hunt for a Soviet mole in the "Circus" – the highest ranks of Britain's Secret Intelligence Service, the MI6.
Gary Oldman takes on the role of George Smiley – an agent forced into retirement who is enlisted once more to head the covert operation. Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong, Ciarán Hinds, Benedict Cumberbatch, and John Hurt complete this exciting cast. If this new trailer doesn't get you anxious for smart, intense, spy-thrilling action, then you may return to your Transformers drool cup. It's also nice to see Oldman not acting out like a lunatic. His name will hopefully be mentioned for the Oscar season -- the poor guy has never received a single nomination, after all. Danny Elfman isn't winning any love with this writer lately, but a track from his score for The Wolfman is that ominous tune you're hearing in the trailer below – a pitch perfect complement for this tense story.
Let us know if you've read Le Carré's novel and if you're digging Alfredson's adaptation so far. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy will hit US theaters on November 18.
