'St. Elmo's Fire' is Back, and it Stars ... Tim Tebow?

'St. Elmo's Fire' is Back, and it Stars ... Tim Tebow?

Jan 12, 2012

Earlier this week we envisioned five movie roles for Denver quarterback Tim Tebow, now that he's officially become the most popular person on the planet. Some of you thought it was amusing, while others ... well, not so much. But maybe -- just maybe -- we were onto something. Though Tebow has not signed on to star in a remake of the 1985 "Brat Pack" hit St. Elmo's Fire, the man behind the song of the same name, John Parr, has, for some reason, re-recorded the lyrics for his smash '80s hit by adding in a bunch of stuff about Tim Tebow. So now we have lines like, "Gonna be a man in motion/All I need is my Broncos team/Take me where my future's lyin' - Tim Tebow's fire!"

No word on whether this new version of the song will be transformed into a movie about Tim Tebow, but if the guy keeps winning then anything is possible, right? Parr also recorded a completely original Tebow song called "Just a Man," and we've posted both songs below. Has one athlete ever had his own rock musician that follows him around and writes songs about him? Can we have one of those too?

p.s. Where is that remake of St. Elmo's Fire, anyway? We think it's time to feel the heat ... again! [via Fox31]
