If you stuck around for the two postcredits scenes in Thor: The Dark World, you would've watched a final scene where Thor returns to Earth for a heavy make-out session with Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman. However, seeing as Marvel likes to shoot these scenes long after production wraps (and sometimes only a month or two before the film's release), Portman's schedule did not permit her to return for reshoots. And so the folks at Marvel were in a bit of a pickle: if Portman can't make it back to set to smooch Chris Hemsworth, could they ever find another woman willing to sacrifice her lips to the Asgardian god?
Enter: Chris Hemsworth's wife, Elsa Pataky. According to a recent chat with Portman in the NY Daily News, it was actually Pataky in that final postcredits scene making out with her husband.
“It was for reshoots (after the film was finished) and he was working in Hong Kong and I couldn't get there because I was working on my own film,” Portman told the News. “And so they put his wife in my wig and costume, that's why it was so passionate.”
Pataky isn't exactly a Hollywood newb, either. Aside from playing wife and mother (with a second on the way) at the Hemsworth household, she's also been a bit of an actress for well over 10 years and can be seen playing Elena in the past two Fast and Furious movies.
