As production gears up on Thor: The Dark World, Marvel and Disney are rounding out the cast with the latest addition being Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost, Oz, G.I. Joe), who will take on the dual role of Algrim and Kurse in the sequel, according to Variety. The film, due out on November 8, 2013 will deal directly a Dark Elves storyline, featuring Christopher Eccleston (also of G.I. Joe fame) as the film's central villain, Malekith the Accursed, ruler of the Dark Elves.
In the comics, Malekitch coerces Algrim to fight Thor, then loses. After developing amnesia, he returns as the much more powerful Kurse, who's said to be twice as strong as Thor. We expect this storyline to be prominently featured in the sequel, which also stars Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Stellan Skarsgard, Rene Russo and Kat Dennings. Alan Taylor (he of Game of Thrones) will direct, which makes us excited because his sensibilities lend themselves well to the world of Thor, which looks to be getting a bit more mythological (and less Loki-centric) in its sequel.
