This just in: a dude you never heard of will be starring opposite Mark Wahlberg in Transformers 4. Get excited! According to Michael Bay, who definitely has a fondness for young up-and-coming actors (and supermodels), Jack Reynor has nabbed what appears to be one of the film's biggest roles. Wait, who?
Here's the message from Bay [via MichaelBay.com]:
I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg. Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Pretty ballsy. Seriously who does that? Anyway I spotted him in a great little Irish movie WHAT RICHARD DID. This kid is the real deal.
Transformers 4, is not a reboot. That word has been floating around on the net.
This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.
Expect an actress to come along soon, and we wouldn't be surprised if, like Reynor, she was someone you weren't exactly familiar with. We kinda dig that, though. As for Reynor, here's a little of that movie What Richard Did so you get an idea of who this kid is and what he'll add to the franchise, which appears to be continuing in a way that passes the torch to a new set of characters who could be around for many more Transformers movies.
hits theaters on July 4, 2014, while Michael Bay's next movie, Pain & Gain
arrives on April 26 and also stars Mark Wahlberg.
