This Is Awesome: NFL-Inspired Illustrations by a Pixar Artist That Look Like Miniature Movies

Feb 06, 2013

Pixar artist Austin Madison has worked on film favorites like Up, Ratatouille and Toy Story 3, but a recent project found him focused on football. Madison isn't necessarily a fan of the game, which is why he had a little fun with the latest NFL season. He illustrated the opposing teams in a literal fashion, taking their names and composing a miniature, humorous narrative.

The above illustration of the Giants vs. Cowboys shows just that — a towering creature battling a group of cowboys on horses. We love the addition of the Millennium Falcon shooting at five galloping broncos (Broncos vs. Falcons, obviously), and the showdown between the Niners and Cardinals looks like a lost scene from Tarantino's Django Unchained. Check out a few of Madison's minimovie mock-ups inspired by the NFL, then head to Design Taxi and the artist's website for more great pics. Now, when can we see these as animated shorts?
