'The Strangers 2' Lures In Christina Hendricks To Star

Christina Hendricks The Strangers 2

A sequel to The Strangers has been a long time coming. The indie horror, movie starring Liv Tyler as a poor woman who just happened to be home when three masked maniacs felt like cutting loose, was a hit back in 2008, freaking out tons of people both in theaters and at home. Not only was it successful, but it also had a simple, tried and true premise that could easily be replicated for sequels.

Those sequels never materialized, though. News of a The Strangers 2 has come and gone over the years. 2016 seemed like the year it would finally happen, but nope. Now, though, it's finally coming together. And thankfully it's with some promising names in front of and behind the camera.

Deadline reports that Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Bailee Madison (Once Upon a Time), and Lewis Pullman (Aftermath) will star in the movie for director Johannes Roberts, who made the rather freaky The Other Side of the Door and this summer's Mandy Moore versus sharks movie, 47 Meters Down.

But not only do we have a cast and a crew, but Deadline gives us a plot synopsis as well.

"The Strangers 2 follows a family whose road trip takes a turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park and the power goes out. As they hunker down for the night in a borrowed trailer, three familiar masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test their every limit."

The "random family gets tortured" craze of horror movies has died down for a while. Mainly because there's only so much you can do with it, but hopefully it's been dormant long enough that Roberts and crew have found a way to do something fresh with it.

The Strangers 2 will film this summer, so expect it some time in 2018.
