Earlier today we brought you a bunch of concept sketches from The Amazing Spider-Man that included some earlier versions of the Spider-Man suit, as well as sketches of the final battle between Spidey and The Lizard on the top of the Oscorp building. Adding to that we now have some early concept images of The Lizard, courtesy of Aaron Sims, who did some various design work on the film.
The Final Version
One interesting note here is the use of actor Chris Cooper in these designs. Most likely Cooper was used as a model to give the studio an idea of what the transition from human to lizard would look like, and not because Cooper was an early contender for the role (though we imagine anything is possible). -- image below courtesy of SHH
Do you think these versions of The Lizard are better than the one in the film?
Also: We're loving this shot of Lizard holding Spider-Man by his tail. We remember a version of this scene in the film, but we do not think this specific shot was in there. Too bad.
