'The Hangover 3,' '300: Battle of Artemisia' and 'Pacific Rim' Schedule Release Dates

Mar 22, 2012

Someone (we believe it was @ercboxoffice) just joked on Twitter that apparently drinking and driving do mix now that The Hangover 3 is scheduled to go up against The Fast and the Furious 6 on the weekend of May 24th, 2013. The third Hangover installment just reserved its date with destiny, opting to go with the late-May weekend that's been so kind to it in the past, even though it'll be fighting for the same audience as Universal's Fast and the Furious sequel. Will one of them bail? If so, our money is on Fast and the Furious 6 switching to a new date, though after a disappointing part two, The Hangover 3 will have to reinvent itself in a big way in order to bring in the type of business expected -- and going toe to toe against a surging Fast and the Furious franchise won't help.

Meanwhile, the 300 prequel -- tentatively titled 300: Battle of Artemisia -- will hit theaters on August 2, 2013, with Guillermo del Toro's epic monsters vs. robots blockbuster, Pacific Rim, moving from May 10, 2013 to July 12, 2013. Other big films already scheduled to hit in 2013 include Elysium (3/1), Iron Man 3 (5/3) Star Trek sequel (5/17), The Lone Ranger (5/31), After Earth (6/7), Man of Steel (6/14), Robopocalypse (7/3), The Wolverine (7/26) and Robocop (8/9).
