Watch: Go Behind the Scenes of 'The East,' Plus Learn When It's Coming to a Theater Near You

Jun 03, 2013

Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij seemed to come out of nowhere when they exploded onto the film scene in 2011 with the very cool movie Sound of My Voice. If you haven't seen it, it's a clever, low-key sci-fi movie about a pair of journalists who infiltrate a cult that's supposedly headed up by a time traveler from the future. The pair have a new film out now called The East, and while it's not in the same sci-fi vein as their first collaboration, it should be up the alley of anyone who dug Sound of My Voice. It's a thriller about a former FBI agent (played by Marling) who now works in the private sector and is tasked with infiltrating a group of anarchists planing secret attacks on American corporations so she can feed that information back to her own corporate overlords.

The East opened in New York and Los Angeles last weekend, but this week it's expanding to many more cities around the country. You can check out the full theater list and expansion schedule here, and to help get you excited, we've got a behind-the-scenes featurette to share with you that finds the cast (including  Alexander Skarsgård and Ellen Page) talking about why The East is such a relevant movie to our current corporation-dominated times.
