In director Kevin MacDonald's
The Eagle,
Channing Tatum and his marble-statue physique portray a young Roman soldier in Roman-ruled Britain who endeavors to honor his father's memory by retrieving his lost legion's golden emblem. Although not connected to Neil Marshall's
Centurion, which is also about the disappearance of the Ninth Legion in Britain,
The Eagle takes place after the events in that movie, making it a sequel in spirit. This historical epic co-starring Jamie Bell and Donald Sutherland lands on DVD and Blu-ray on June 21. Both versions contain commentary by MacDonald, deleted scenes and an alternate ending as well as a choice between the PG-13 theatrical cut and an unrated cut of the film.
